Play by Sephora

I’ve tried many subscription services and this one did not cut it for me. I’ve been subscribed to Boxycharm for about 8 months so I have been receiving full-size products, not sure if that has anything to do with not liking the sample box. But a month ago I wanted to try Play by Sephora and see what it was all about.

The products are so tiny, I believe they have gotten smaller over the years. Let me tell you a little bit about the tiny products I received. I’ll start by describing the product I like all the way down to the most disliked product.

Most liked: Sephora Collection LashCraft Big Volume Mascara in Black 0.18 oz

Full-volume mascara with a buildable formula. When applying this mascara it felt lightweight, had added a few coats. Did not look clumpy to me. Some look clumpy after adding so many coats. The wand is pretty long and catches all of the eyelashes. Great for traveling. You can just pop it in your purse.

Second liked: Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly 0.5 oz

This is a moisturizer that felt weightless on the face. Made my face feel smooth and soft. To me, it felt as if it evened the skin texture. You could see a difference in the texture as well. I have little bumps on my cheeks, not sure from what, but helped even them out and they weren’t really noticeable. It says it is supposed to care for the skins moisture barrier and protect it from pollutants. I believe using this product longer I would see a result in that.

Third product: Steller Brilliant Primer 0.24 oz

The tube looks like a liquid chapstick tube. Product inside has a pink tint to it. Blends out to be clear with a silky smooth feel. It has a bit of glitter in it, it is an illuminating primer. It blurred away any imperfections I had.

Fourth product: Nudestix Intense Matte + Cheek Pencil in kiss 0.088 us oz

Creamy upon application. Too dark for me as a lip or even cheek product. Easy to remove with makeup remover. Dries to a matte finish. I would like the pencil more if it was a different shade.

Fifth product: Tom Ford Black Orchid Perfume Sample

It smells good, floral smell. It actually smells more like a man’s cologne to me, but I’m pretty sure it is a woman’s perfume. It doesn’t actually say. It does say it is in the Floral Fragrance Family.

Last product: Peter Thomas Roth Hungarian Thermal Water Mineral-Rich Atomic Heat Mask 0.25 oz

The only reason I do not like this product is that they do not give you enough to use as a mask. This bottle is so tiny and only half of the bottle has product in it. It simply wasn’t enough to even give a review on.

Thank you for taking the time to read my impressions on Play by Sephora. I have canceled the subscription due not liking most of the products. It could honestly have to do with the fact that I am used to receiving full-sized products.

Thanks,

-A
